In the Pink, part 2

I waited a long time to see some pink blossoms. Most of my friends in B.C. have already been talking about Cherry blossoms for over a month now. In fact they say their blossoms are already past their lifespan.
So finally, ours is starting to bloom, and I couldn't be happier.
I thought I'd probably never see blossoms here in Alberta.
Its always windy here, so it was hard getting some photos that weren't blowing in that wind.
At times the wind blows like crazy, and the air feels full of dust. Tumble weeds blow down the street and pile up on fences and against the sides of homes.

This tiny LadyBug was trying to gather some food and not get blown away into the next yard.

Lots of little buds that still are set to open.

These pink blossoms really signal the arrival of Spring for me. I was beginning the think it wasn't going to happen!

These colours won't be around for much longer and I have waited so long for them, that I am loving being out and seeing their fleeting beauty.

Finally, I am in the Pink!

I have been waiting weeks for pink! And finally finally I found some. I found it right in the front yard after returning home from spending a few days away in Edmonton.
These lovely pink blossoms bloomed while we were gone and greeted us as we drove up the driveway. I had to wait until the next morning to get some photos as it was just getting dark in the late evening when we arrived home.
The next morning I got up, dressed fast and grabbed my camera and raced upstairs, all excited to take some photos and what did I see.
Wind. Lots of wind. 40 km/hour winds with gusts of wind up to 100 km/hour.
And the wind lasted for two days. It blew and stormed and blew some more.
At that rate, there would not of been a pink petal left to photograph.
So if I wanted any kind of photo of pink blossoms and I did, I had to get out there in a hurricane (it felt like one anyways) and hope I could adjust my shutter speed up high enough to take photos. And not get knocked over. And keep my hair from flying in front of the camera and into my eyes.
Oh, the challenges.

So these three photos are the start of my adventure on windy days taking pink blossom photos. I am glad I got them as today they look worse for wear, the edges of the delicate pink blossoms looking more ragged and turning brown.
I will be posting more in the next few days. I would post them all right now but my internet is slower than molasses right now.
I was patient trying to take these so you will have to come back and see some more- be patient!!

Blue Flowers

I am posting a few more photos of Blue roses for you all to enjoy.
Winter has been long and a bit lingering, so to enjoy some flowers right now, we head out to the store.
Bright blue against a background of white Baby's Breath, gorgeous!

We have to rely on store bought bouquets of flowers here, as Spring is slow to arrive here. Things are greening up a bit, and you can see the beginnings of Tulip and Daffodils growing, but flowers are only found in a flower shop at this time!

It shouldn't be long though and flowers will appear!!

Project 52 - Sweet Shot Tuesday

Project 52 - Sweet Shot Tuesday
I had a hard time deciding what I was going to take a photo of today . It's been a day of waiting  I could of taken a photo of the snow that fell overnight, but I was waiting to see if it stopped, which it did, and I was waiting to see it melt which it did as well. I waited for the temperature to warm up, but it really didn't do that. I waited for a  bit of energy to get myself going, and that was a hard time coming.
I waited all day for a phone call I have been expecting, and it didn't come in today.
Lots of waiting, not much to show. Until tonight.
My hubby and I went out for supper tonight with our daughter Lora  to Tumbleweeds Restaurant. That was worth the wait!!
So I am going to share what we ate for dinner!
My hubby had a Bison Ribeye Steak and fries. That dipping sauce was to die for!

Lora had Seafood Fettucine. See that smiley face on her Scallop!

My dinner was Kung Pao Crispy Sesame Pork and Prawns. I have at least half of it which I brought home and I plan on eating it for breakfast tomorrow. How decadent will that be!

Dessert was Banana Cream Pie. It should of been illegal! The bananas were bananas Foster, flambee'd in rum and the sauce poured warm over banana custard. Whipped cream Oh my gosh, Lora and I shared this decadent dessert!

My hubby had a slice of Saskatoon berry Pie and Vanilla Ice Cream.

The view of the bar area just ahead of where we were sitting;

And the doorway where we came into the eating area of the restaurant. It was a delicious dinner and we enjoyed our time with Lora.

Finally, a Storm!

We are located in an area  of Alberta right now that is famous for its fast and furious storms, so needless to say we have been waiting and waiting for one to show up. Finally we were rewarded! It was amazing how this storm blew in in about ten minutes time, chilled the air and darkened the skies, winds blew like crazy, and hail and snow fell. At the peak of the storm we were rewarded with one big flash of lightning and a crack of thunder so loud and powerful that it shook the house and rattled the china in the cabinet. I've never heard a crack of thunder that loud!

I ran out the front door to snap a few pictures, and almost got blown off my feet with the force of the wind. Two big tumbleweeds rolled down the street so fast I never managed to catch a photo of them. The clouds went from white and puffy, to grey and ominous, to black.

Some other brave souls out on the street checking out the incoming storm.

When the hail started it dropped pea size hail balls and they came down almost sideways.

My hubby and I were so excited to see our first storm, we were running back and forth between the front door and the back door to try and see as much of it as we could. My sister, who lives here and has seen many a storm just shook her head at our little back and forth frenzy to take it all in!  It's not new when you have seen lots of storms.

A half hour after the storm started it moved on. We only had that one crack of thunder, and it was gone. Now I am waiting again for storm number 2!!!

Playing with Fruit

I am very late this week getting my P52 photo in, it has been a blizzard (or two) around here some of this week!
I had an idea for the theme for this, but with fresh snow etc. it was easier to stay at home and put off going to the store for fresh fruit.
I finally went yesterday and here is some of the photos from the fruit I bought.
The nice part about taking photos of fruit is after when you get to eat it. I cut up so much fruit I will be snacking on it for a few days to come.
I put slices of fruit in my water bottle as well. Always trying to find ways of making water drinks more fun to drink!
I love love eating Fruit. It is cool, refreshing, good for you, tastes like summer to me. It's one of my favorite things!

And who among us has never played with their food??
