THEME THURSDAY - Silly!

Some people really take their Bingo seriously. They have their many cards arranged just so, and are all ready and waiting for each number to be announced. They use thier bingo daubers and literally stamp their intentions on each and every card. They hold their breath, slide forward to the edges of their chairs the closer they get to the elusive Bingos.

When someone jumps up and yells Bingo, the collective sigh from all the others can be heard and a few people even venture to let out an expletive or two expressing their disappointment at not winning again. These Bingo Daubers seem to express the collective sighs and expetives. I saw these in a Dollar Store!

Camera Critters

It has been a long long time since sharing pictures of my two cats with you. Our kitten Scarf, the calico, is now 16 months old and Speed, our white cat is 12 years old.
This is Scarf, so named because of how she scarfs her food and that for the first couple weeks here with us she was like a scarf around the neck, living mostly on my hubby's shoulder. Scarf came to us at four weeks old, she had been thrown out of the car in front of us while driving in the town of Mission. She was covered in sticky candy residue and starving. From her rocky start, she has settled down amazingly well but still retains a lot of skittishness and apprehension. She will cuddle up with us on the bed, but in the daytime mostly stays a distance away. Speed is the only one she will snuggle up to in the daytime.

Speed is getting older and likes to sleep more than he ever did before. He will snuggle right up to you and likes to curl up into a ball with his head resting in the palm of your hand. He took over the parent duties for Scarf when she arrived and still keeps an eye on her. I think because she was so incredibly small when she arrived he was not threatened by bringing another cat into the fold.

The armchair in the living room is there chair, complete with the couch cushion for them to make it soft. Sometimes they like the blanket on the back of the couch over them, creating a cave for them to sleep.

Reuben Dip

Once again it was time to wrack the brain and come up with a delicious snack to take next door for our regular Wednesday night Survivor show get together. I love making dips, they are easy to make, and transport and yummy to eat. I have done quite a few different dips which you can find recipes for by going to the bottom of my page and checking my tags. You will love them, they are all tried and tested at Survivor night!
REUBEN DIP
1/2 LB. Diced Corned Beef
1 - 8 oz. Pkg. Herb and Garlic Cream Cheese, softened
1 Cup Shredded Swiss Cheese
1 Cup Drained Saurkraut
1/2 cup Sour Cream
1 TBSP Spicy Ketchup
1TBSP Spicy Brown Recipe
4 Chopped Green Onions
1 tsp. Fresh Ground Pepper

Put all ingredients into a large bowl and mix it all together. It really gives your arm muscles a good workout!

After completely mixing it all up, scoop it into a greased baking dish.

Cover with a good layer of more Shredded Cheese.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes until Dip is all brown and bubbly.
Garnish with more chopped Green Onions after taking it out of the oven.

We served this Dip with Bagette slices. It would also be really good with slices of Dark Rye bread or crackers. Serve it hot and bubbly but be careful not to burn your mouth!
So good, you will want to make it over and over!

Watery Wednesday

In Bear Creek Park at the start of the Gardens, there was a Water Fountain at the start of the path.
Two sides of the open walls were water walls. The water at the bottom held coins that people must of made some wishes with.

A bench on two sides to sit and relax.

And a few of last year's leaves floating lazily about in the water.

Macro Monday

The Art of the Written Words.
Seeing these old Calligraphy pens and ink sets today got me wondering about actually writing and the written words.
With everyone having Computers, Cell Phones, Tablets etc. these days, I wonder if most of the things we might normally write in hand are now typed or texted or emailed from us to another.
I cannot remember the last time I sent a written note to someone. I have sent e-mails to friends and family, and texted messages over my phone. When I want something like a recipe for instance, I will find it online and print a copy of it out. I do my banking online, I shop online. My calendar on the computer. I don't even have to sign my name much anymore it seems.

The only days I do have to pick up a pen and write something is when I am at work. If it weren't for that I think writing would be a seldom practised and seldon done activity for me.

We type a quick note and send it when its just as fast and much more personal to write a note and send it. We text messages by the dozens when we could just pick up the phone and have a chat. It seems that the practise of writing is slowly going by the wayside. And with it as well our lives become more impersonal and distant. We wonder in our hearts what we miss in our lives.
And I think that is kind of a sad thing to ponder.

Camera Critters

Sometimes its hard to see whether the fences we build keep us locked in or locked out.

They can turn us into Observers of life as it passes us by or they can turn us into active participants in life. I guess it depends on what side of the fence you place yourself.
This dog is actually on the other side of the fence, and coming to visit us while we were out in the back yard. I liked the analogy though and it gave me pause (paws) for thought.

The Weekend in Black and White

A few pictures of PowWow Dancers that my hubby took last weekend.
The powwow was in Coquitlam all last weekend.

Dancers of all ages danced.

I think these look great in black and white. Colour photos were good too but black and white is dramatic.
